If I recall correctly I tried out the Logitech at a Sears store between 10 and the morning and noon. As always I have prepared a very thorough and unbiased elliptical trainer review. This is not an easy job, this is not a fun job, but I do get a lot of satisfaction from knowing that my reviews are real and genuine compared to most other treadmill and elliptical trainer review websites out there. Here is my honest opinion about the Logitech.

The one thing I definitely noticed right off the bat is that there was no shaking. Almost every elliptical trainer that retails for less than $800 will have some sort of balance issues. Even when I was pumping my legs at full speed the Proform 390 E Elliptical Trainer stayed firmly planted on the ground. I like to think that Proform embedded stolen alien antigravity technology into the Proform 390 E Elliptical Trainer and flipped the reverse button. The reality is Proform just made a really good elliptical trainer for less than $600. The Proform 390 E Elliptical Trainer is also very smooth for the price range. I can’t expect the same natural motion I would expect from an elliptical trainer that cost $1000 or more, but for a $600 unit the Proform 390 E Elliptical Trainer has an impressive feel. As far as mechanics go, this is one of the best $600 ellipticals out there.

So, how do the features and specifications stack up? The Proform 390 E Elliptical Trainer has a lot of features typically found on high-end fitness equipment; iPod compatibility and built-in speakers, 12 built-in fitness programs, long 18” stride length, and electronically controlled resistance. There are even an impressive amount of fitness programs that target weight loss and build endurance. I know a lot of you are probably saying “I don’t need fitness programs”. You’re right. You do not need any fitness programs whatsoever. But the truth is, for a majority of people including myself fitness programs are a great way to boost your performance during a cardiovascular routine. They keep users focused and encourage them to work harder to reach whatever goal you may have be it weight-loss, calorie burn, or cardiovascular endurance.

*Since I initially reviewed this elliptical trainer there has been a more than $200 price drop making this elliptical trainer a huge deal!

Final Analysis
Overall, the Proform 390 E Elliptical Trainer is an excellent unit. It has an excellent feel for the $600 price range and lots of really cool features like iPod compatibility. The huge and recent price drop to $379.99 makes buying the Proform 390E Elliptical a no brainer. I would move on this elliptical as fast as I could. The price could go back up at any time!

Agree with the analysis except the preset resistance is way too high even when reducing it to a 1 during a workout. My wife and I are in good shape but find it difficult to pump at full speed even when the resistance is reduced. Is there a way to reduce the preset resistance levels?

I completely agree because I tried it in Sears. However, to deliver it and set it up will nearly double the cost!!! That’s why I refuse to buy it as of Jan 2011.
