Hello and welcome to my 2010 Treadmill Buyer’s Guide. There are literally hundreds of these Buyer’s Guides out there and most of them are written by people who have no knowledge of treadmills; what’s worse is most of these people have never even set foot on the treadmills they talk about! Before I even start this treadmill guide I want to let you know that every treadmill I mention on this list I have personally used. You can take me to court on that. My picks are genuine and derived from hours of very hard work; reading other reviews and comments, locating and physically trying out the treadmills I want to review, and actually writing the reviews themselves. Comfort
Horizon Fitness usually has a treadmill that makes this list every year in the under $600 price range category. There are two very compelling reasons for this; reliability and comfort. You will see this repeated many times throughout my website, comfort and reliability are the two most important things I take into consideration when rating treadmills. If you’re treadmill is shaky, bouncy, or a pain to run or walk on your treadmill will become an expensive coat rack. I cannot think of another treadmill in the $600 price range that can match the Horizon T101 Treadmill when it comes to comfort. Walking and jogging on the Horizon T101 Treadmill is comfortable even compared to some treadmills that run twice the cost. Most people will find the Horizon T101 Treadmill to be more than satisfactory when it comes to comfort.
Realiability
The Horizon T101 Treadmill stands out for reliability just as much as it stands out for comfort. Horizon Fitness has built up a very strong reputation for producing some of the finest equipment in the under $600 price range. The Horizon T101 Treadmill is mechanically sound and is highly unlikely to give you any technical problems. However, in the off chance this treadmill has a faulty motor or computer board Horizon Fitness has an excellent customer service team that will ship you out brand-new parts and provide labor to install these parts at no cost to you for an entire year after purchase. If you think a one-year parts and labor warranty is short just look at some of the competition the Horizon T101 Treadmill has. Many of the better-known brands come with warranties as short as 90 days. In 90 day warranty for $600 treadmill is simply unacceptable. Horizon Fitness can offer a warrantee that is head and shoulders above everyone else because Horizon Fitness knows they have designed, engineered, and manufactured a quality product that is very unlikely to break down. I doubt anyone over at Horizon Fitness lose any sleep worrying about a product recall or product complaints.
Another important consideration in any treadmill review is horsepower. In the past many treadmill manufacturers have manipulated their horsepower ratings to trick consumers into thinking they were getting a better motor than they actually were. In my many years in the fitness industry I have never known Horizon Fitness to engage in this sort of malicious practice. The Horizon T101 Treadmill’s 2.25 hp rating is solid and reliable. Not only that, but most treadmills in this price range offer anywhere between 1.75 hp and 2.0 hp. A one quarter or half a horsepower difference might not seem like a big deal, but it is. The greater the horsepower the better treadmill a treadmill will be old to withstand many workouts over a long period of time. Simply put, the Horizon T101 Treadmill is going to last you a very, very long time.
Features
To top everything off the Horizon T101 Treadmill has a solid set of features. There are nine fitness programs spanning everything from weight loss to endurance training. You may be tempted to buy a treadmill that has a significantly greater amount of programs; if you do you run a very good chance of buying a treadmill that is going to squeak and creak you out of ever taking advantage of all of those extra programs. For most people nine fitness programs are more than adequate to effectively and efficiently reach their fitness goals. You can even use these programs together with an adjustable 10% incline to switch up your routine or increase intensity. With a 10 mile per hour top speed the Horizon T101 Treadmill is as fast as any other treadmill in the under $600 price range.
Finally, the Horizon T101 Treadmill has built-in speakers for your iPod and it folds up. The speakers sound great! I didn’t hear any background static and the sound was nearly as good as my Sony headphones are. A lot of people have reservations about built-in speakers on treadmills as they think the sound quality is going to terrible. Well, I am happy to report the sound quality far exceeded even my expectations and the speakers are very usable! And just in case you live in a very small house or apartment the Horizon T101 Treadmill folds up and can be stored out of the way.
If you have a budget of $600 I cannot stress strongly enough that you need to buy the Horizon T101 Treadmill! I have tried dozens of treadmills over the years and this treadmill has met and surpassed all of my expectations and standards for treadmill in this price range. If you don’t believe me go out and try other treadmills and then compare them to the Horizon T101 Treadmill. I’m very confident that you will return to the Horizon T101 Treadmill and buy it!
